The town of Landerneau in western France on Saturday broke the world record for the largest gathering of people in Smurf costumes. Organisers said more than 3,000 people were at the event. Landerneau had made two failed attempts to wrest the record away from Lauchringen, Germany, before finally succeeding this weekend.
