Whoa. Whitney Purvis has been arrested just weeks after her son’s death. And it couldn’t be more grave — she’s being charged with felony involuntary manslaughter!
According to online records viewed by TMZ, the 16 & Pregnant alum was taken into police custody on Monday in Floyd County, Georgia, following an incident involving a fatal overdose. She’s been charged for allegedly intentionally distributing a street drug called Tranq, which is a combination of Fentanyl and Xylazine (a drug used for sedation of animals). Police believe it caused the victim, a man named John Mark Harris, to suffer a toxic overdose. Yikes.

The 33-year-old was also slammed with two other charges involving controlled substances, including possession with intent to distribute. Fox 5 Atlanta reported police records indicate the charge stems from an incident that occurred on the night of February 16, 2025. Cops arrived at a home in Rome, GA, and found the victim dead near possible drug paraphernalia.

Shockingly, Whitney also left a gushing message on the victim’s obituary page following his death! The comment, discovered by TMZ, was posted on March 3, and she seems to suggest she didn’t realize he had passed until weeks after! She wrote:
“John mark, I hate that I found out what happened today and missed your funeral.”
Like she was going to miss her own son’s funeral and make it to the one for a guy she sold drugs… Anyway, she continued so contritely:
“I wish I could’ve found out sooner and attended your celebration of life. thank you for being such a great friend to me and always making me feel beautiful and cared for. You’ve come to my rescue on many occasions and saved me over the years. We bonded over being chefs, our love of cooking and our struggles. I could tell you anything and you always knew what to say or give me your honest opinion and advice. I am so very thankful for the times we had together. My brain just can’t process this happened. I don’t want it to be true.”
Reflecting on their strong connection, she furthered:
“I’ll miss waking up to your silly messages and pictures you’d send me. I’ll miss marshal and lunchbox. I’ll miss your amazing cooking. I’ll miss snuggling on the couch watching tv with you. I’ll miss sitting outside, smoking camel crush cigs w/ you how we talked about talked [sic] about life, gossiping and you telling me what movies/shows I need to watch next. Most of all, I’ll miss you, a truly good hearted & one of a kind man, John Mark. I’ll never forget you. Rest in peace and my condolences to your family and friends. I pray they are able to find some kind of comfort during this tragic time. I love you forever, John Mark. Love, Whitney”

This arrest comes just over a month after Whitney’s eldest son Weston, 16, died of natural causes following health issues. She’s been fighting with her ex, who has custody of the children (including a younger son named River), over pretty much everything ever since — even her absence at the funeral.
The former MTV personality has faced legal issues before, including allegedly failing to pay child support, shoplifting a pregnancy test, and smashing electronics. But this is by far her most serious arrest yet! She has not made a statement about the charges at this time.
