Whitney Purvis is accusing her ex-boyfriend Weston Gosa Sr. of neglect! She believes their son Weston Jr.‘s death was preventable!
In a candid Facebook post on Wednesday, the 16 & Pregnant alum noted that the 16-year-old, who died unexpectedly earlier this month from natural causes, per the death certificate via TMZ, suffered from diabetes, Addison’s disease, and Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency — but “had no medical insurance” via his father, who had custody. She claimed:
“But [Weston Sr.] had a life insurance policy taken out on him. His dad bought five cars in the last six months but couldn’t pay for medical insurance. He brags about how much money he has and has the nerve to make a GoFundMe to help bury him when he was just going to cremate him anyway because it was the cheapest, plus he had the life insurance policy.”

The former reality star then suggested her son could still be alive today if he had proper medical equipment:
“His death could’ve been prevented. He should have had a Dexcom/glucose monitor that alerted when his sugar was going up or down to a dangerous level.”
As noted, Weston Jr. died of natural causes, but details of exactly what happened have not been shared publicly.
Nevertheless, the fact Weston Sr. allegedly didn’t have health insurance despite their son’s many challenges really bothers Whitney, who continued:
“In our custody order, he was supposed to have medical insurance on our kids; that was part of our agreement. That just doesn’t sit right with me, and I brought this up to him a few days before the funeral, and he got mad, thinking I was accusing him of neglect, but I just wanted to understand.”
The mother of two (she shares another son with Gosa) also didn’t back down on her claims about why she was refused entry to the funeral. She previously claimed she was given the wrong start time, left off the guest list, and turned away alongside most of her friends and family. That said, her ex told TMZ that she was on the guest list but showed up after the service began and therefore the chapel’s doors were already locked.
The MTV perosnality is standing by her original narrative, though. Blasting her ex for asking funeral home staff to force her to leave, she penned:
“As for the funeral, they wanted to say I was on the list, then why couldn’t I come in? I said there must be some kind of mistake, and they said no. He knew I was out there and told them to have me leave the property. Does that sound like I was just late, or does it sound like he didn’t want me there at all? If he was a decent person, he could’ve made sure I at least got to say my goodbyes to him.”
Heartbreakingly, it sounds like she was never given an opportunity to have one last moment with her son — even though there was time after the funeral service:
“I begged him to do something. He was cremated yesterday, and the funeral was Saturday. He said it’s not his problem. He knew what he was doing. I don’t care how much I don’t like someone; there are certain lines I would never cross. I’m not the type of person who wants to see someone suffering, and I’ll never understand that type of evil. He needed my signature to cremate Weston, he has no problem taking child support from me, but yet he says I’m not his mother. I apologize for ranting and this is all I will speak on it but I’m tired of screaming in silence. All I wanted was to have my alone time w him to say goodbye, a lock of his hair and some his ashes. He has ignored my messages since the funeral.”
Yeah, that is terrible, if true. Every parent should have the chance to say goodbye. See her full post:
But naturally, Weston is already clapping back! Speaking to TMZ on Wednesday, he called his ex “clueless” and bashed her for spreading fake narratives:
“She has no idea what she’s talking about. The state canceled his insurance because of how much money I was making, so I quit and let my wife work while I stay home and spend time with my family.”
He said they were fighting to reinstate the insurance and had paid thousands out of pocket for necessary doctors, meds, and care. As for why the teen didn’t have a glucose monitor, his dad said they’d used one in the past but stopped because it was inaccurate and “sketchy.”
He also stressed there was nothing unusual going on with the life insurance policy. He explained it’s become somewhat of a family tradition in which his mom gets life insurance on all her grandkids at birth, so the policy had been established for years.
Weston also argued that he did not prevent Whitney from saying goodbye to their child, once again pointing out the funeral home was closed because the service had already begun when she arrived late.
Hmm. This remains a tricky situation — and neither of them is willing to back down on their version of the story! We just hope they can find some way to resolve their issues as they grieve. They still have another son to care for too. We’d hate to see this drama escalate during an already incredibly emotional time for them all.
