6ix9ine says that he didn’t know how to manage his money and now owes the U.S. government $8 million in unpaid taxes.
During a livestream with Deshhae Frost on Thursday (Oct. 23), the rainbow-haired rapper explained that his money troubles began once he got famous, and that no one showed him how to properly manage his funds.
“I was like, ‘Yo, Damn, all my tax-paying dollars is going to [the IRS],” 6ix9ine said. “You know, I did something that — I didn’t know how to manage my money. So my f—king — my accountant wasn’t writing nothing off. So I got into a problem with the IRS.”
He went on to say that he’s paid back $6 million and that he’s in the process of paying back the last $2 million. He also added that he felt slightly targeted, but that he’ll pay it back regardless.
“That’s $8 million going to a universe that we don’t even know where it’s going to,” he joked. “So at the end of the day, I just gotta be more smarter with my money. I’m 6ix9ine at the end of the day. The way they treat everybody else and the way they treat 6ix9ine, there’s different rules, different things. I think they want to make me an example,” he said. “That’s cool. As long as I’m with free and with my family, we gon’ pay these n—as their money. Get ’em all this money, we don’t know where it’s goin’ to. But we’re gonna do the right thing.”
6ix9ine has been deep in a press run recently, and making some controversial headlines in the process. In a separate interview on One Night with Steiny, 6ix9ine clowned his longtime foe Lil Tjay for being shot at a Chipotle in New Jersey back in 2022.
“…He almost lost his life for a burrito,” 6ix9ine said at one point. “You know that burrito bowl… So you got your rice and beans, then they slide your bowl and it goes to the meats. Then right before you get to the salad and the [guacamole] and whatever, n—as hit that n—a. I know that he’s banned from all Chipotles.”
