Texas state representatives have approved a new congressional map that could help Republicans gain five seats in the 2026 midterms. While redistricting itself isn’t unusual, FRANCE 24s Kethevane Gorjestani notes this year’s plan is controversial for its timing and because it was explicitly requested by President Donald Trump, making the process unusually political.
