A US federal judge on Thursday blocked the Trump administration and Florida state authorities from sending any new migrants to the detention centre known as “Alligator Alcatraz” and ordered much of the facility to be dismantled, effectively shutting it down. Florida’s government quickly said it would appeal the ruling.
