US President Donald Trump on Monday said he was firing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, an unprecedented attempt to exert control over the independent body that decides US monetary policy and a move likely to be challenged in court. Cook responded through lawyers that Trump “has no authority” to remove her and vowed to continue in her post.
