Prime Minister François Bayrou is meeting with France’s political parties in an effort to prevent the collapse of his government ahead of a confidence vote next week. Opposition leaders have declared their intention to defeat the minority government in the September 8 vote, which Bayrou called unexpectedly last week as he seeks to implement unpopular budget cuts for 2026.
