Syrian government forces and their allies were responsible for the killing of 830 civilians of the Alawite minority, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said on Sunday. The Syrian presidency said that an “independent committee” had been formed to investigate the violence against the Alawite minority, to which Syria’s deposed leader Bashar al-Assad belongs.
