26 countries agree to deploy troops in Ukraine if ceasefire reached

26 European countries formally agreed on Thursday to provide security guarantees for Ukraine, committing to sending troops to Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire with Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commended the agreement and said those already in favor of the plan “count on” the US to act as a “backstop” within the framework of security guarantees for his country.
