In a show of resistance to US President Donald Trump’s drastic efforts to reduce the federal workforce, a District Judge on Thursday ordered the Trump administration to rehire probationary workers it had laid off since coming into power. The White House swiftly appealed the ruling – a lawsuit jointly filed by numerous labor unions – labeling it an encroachment on executive powers.
