It’s the second time the French government has fallen since the 2024 snap legislative elections called by President Emmanuel Macron, and there is no end in sight to the country’s political instability, FRANCE 24 Brussels correspondent Dave Keating said. Prime Minister François Bayrou’s defeat in Monday’s confidence vote “adds to the perception that President Macron is a lame duck and unable to take a lead on the European stage”, Keating said.
