French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday named armed forces minister and his close ally Sebastien Lecornu as the new prime minister to replace Francois Bayrou as the seventh premier of his mandate. The formal handover of power between Bayrou and Lecornu is due to take place on Wednesday at midday. FRANCE 24’s Claire Paccalin reports.
