Around 2,000 people have been arrested in Turkey’s crackdown on anti-government protests following the arrest of Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on March 19. Many of the protesters are students. Erdogan has defended the use of police force, stating on Friday that Turkey ‘cannot lose a single young person to the enemies of our nation.’ Despite the growing climate of fear, protests continue.
