Businesses in the Kingdom of Lesotho are worried about the fate of the trade agreement between the United States and Africa – the African Growth and Opportunity Act – which is up for renewal this year. AGOA provides duty-free access for certain products, such as clothing, from around thirty sub-Saharan African countries. But with President Donald Trump’s administration cutting off financial aid and trying to impose tariffs and an ‘America First’ policy, the partners are disillusioned.
