China’s military carried out “live-fire” drills targeting crucial ports and energy sites directed at Taiwan, an island it claims as its own. These exercises, criticised by Washington as “intimidation tactics,” followed comments by Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te, who called China a “foreign hostile force.”
