French towns defy government orders and raise Palestinian flags ahead of recognition

Almost two dozen French town halls raised the Palestinian flag on Monday despite the Interior Ministry’s warning, ahead of President Emmanuel Macron’s planned recognition of a Palestinian state at the UN. The move sparked a political clash, as left-wing mayors hailed it as a historic gesture for peace while the hardline Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau insisted on neutrality in public service.
