DR Congo president warns of ‘silent genocide’ in the east at UN Assembly

On September 24, 2025, President Félix Tshisekedi addressed the UN General Assembly, urging the international community to recognize the ongoing “silent genocide” in eastern Congo and to support efforts for justice and lasting peace. He called for targeted sanctions against perpetrators of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the region.
