Political shockwaves have hit France this week after a Paris criminal court found Nicolas Sarkozy guilty of criminal conspiracy in his Libya campaign financing trial, sentencing the former president to five years behind bars. He’ll become the first former leader of the country to serve a jail term, though he’s vowed to appeal.
