Ghana has given foreign traders until May 1 to leave its gold trading market, clearing the way for a new, government-controlled entity that will monopolise the buying and selling of the metal. The announcement coincided with authorities rejecting a renewal application from Gold Fields, one of the world’s largest gold miners, for its mining licence. Justice Baidoo has the details.
