Last-ditch talks underway to appoint French Prime minister and resolve crisis

Following Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu’s resignation, President Emmanuel Macron has brought together political parties at the Élysée Palace in a final effort to avoid snap elections and find a new prime minister. As our journalist Ellen Gainsford reports, the left wing appears more united than the right amid ongoing talks to resolve France’s political crisis.
