Madagascar coup leader Michael Randrianirina sworn in as president

Madagascar’s coup leader Col. Michael Randrianirina was sworn in as president on Friday after the military took power in the Indian Ocean island nation. Randrianirina, the commander of an elite army unit, took the oath of office just three days after the military seized power following weeks of Gen Z-led protests that forced then president Andry Rajoelina to flee.
