A US federal judge on Wednesday said any attempt by the Trump administration to deport migrants to Libya would “clearly” violate a standing court order, following reports that such deportations could begin as early as this week. The warning came after reports that US officials were weighing the first-ever transfers of migrants to Libya—a country long criticised by Washington for its brutal detention practices and ongoing instability.
