US President Donald Trump admitted that Vladimir Putin may be playing for time by agreeing to a new summit, but said he believed his Russian counterpart wanted a deal to end the Ukraine war. Meanwhile, Trump suggested to Volodymyr Zelensky it would be premature to give Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, saying he hoped to secure peace with Russia. The US and Russian presidents agreed to a new summit in the Hungarian capital which would be their first since an August meeting in Alaska that failed to produce any kind of peace deal.
