Over the weekend, France’s parliament was rocked by intense debates over next year’s budget, with MPs from across the political spectrum rejecting a proposal to freeze the income tax scale, costing the government around €2 billion in revenue. If no compromise is reached soon, left-wing leader Olivier Faure has threatened a no-confidence vote that could trigger early parliamentary elections.
