A study released earlier this year shows that cocaine use doubled in France in 2023. The country has the seventh-highest consumption level of cocaine in Europe and ranks high in cannabis use, but this latter trend looks set to decline among the youth. Meanwhile, the government shows no signs it’s willing to legalise cannabis. According to French authorities, drug crime is crippling daily life in the country. For more, we speak to Marie Jauffret-Roustide, a member of the European Union Drugs Agency’s Scientific Committee.
