Some real class was shown ahead of the upcoming Miss Universe pageant — but it wasn’t from the organization’s vice president, that’s for sure…
On Monday Miss Universe Thailand went live on their Facebook page to show some behind-the-scenes action ahead of their regularly scheduled sash ceremony. The beauty pageant contestants all sat in a room where they were first addressed by Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, the Vice President of the Asia and Oceania within the Miss Universe Organization. But what happened next left everyone shocked — and understandably angry.
In the middle of his speech, the VP took a moment to single out Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, for failing to show up for a sponsor photoshoot earlier that day. Y’all, this man talked to her like a child! He told her to stand up in front of dozens of other delegates and “explain herself” before he fully interrupted her and called her “dumb”. WTF!!
She insisted on “using her voice”, but that’s when Itsaragrisil told security to kick her out of the event. For real! How awful!

But Miss Mexico’s fellow contestants had her back. One by one, they all stood up and staged a walk-out on her behalf. Dozens of other pageant queens stood by her side in a moment of solidarity and also left the room, all the while the VP shouted “stop, stop” and “sit down”!

One of the pageant queens that walked out was even 2024’s reigning Miss Universe, Victoria Theilvig of Denmark. She later apologized to some fans videoing her, but explained her stance, saying:
“This is about women’s rights. I’m so sorry, we need to do something bigger. We have respect for everyone, but this is not how things can be handled. To trash another girl — it’s beyond disrespectful and it’s nothing I’ve ever done. That’s why I’m taking my coat and I’m going.”

Victoria then posted to her Instagram Stories, praising her fellow pageant queens for their bravery. She shared a picture of all the ladies hanging out together after they walked out of the event.

She also wrote to Fátima, in particular:

Standing up for yourself is not always easy, but it is one of the most important acts of self-respect and strength you can show. It means knowing your worth, setting boundaries, and not allowing anyone or anything to undermine your voice or your value. It’s about acknowledging that you have a right to be heard, to express your opinions, and to pursue your dreams, regardless of any obstacles that may come your way. Enough is enough, our voices will be heard loud and clear!”

With all these ladies refusing to be involved in the events, the Miss Universe organization had to do something quick. Just a few hours after this incident occurred, they posted a statement to their FB, which revealed their CEO Mario Búcaro was heading to Thailand to oversee the events and “ensure a secure and professional environment for all delegates”:
“All scheduled events and activities will continue as planned, in full cooperation with the host country and MGI, reaffirming our shared goal of delivering an exceptional global celebration that reflects the values of diversity, empowerment, and inclusion that define the Miss Universe legacy. The Miss Universe Organization remains steadfast in its mission to promote collaboration, respect, and opportunity for women around the world, working hand in hand with all partners to ensure a safe, inspiring, and memorable experience for every delegate.”

The 2025 pageant doesn’t even take to the stage until late November, and it’s already getting messy! Props to these women looking out for each other, though. Thoughts, Perezcious readers?
