EU set to further tighten controls for Russians amid ongoing Ukraine aggression

The EU adopted stricter rules on Friday for issuing visas to Russian nationals to enter the EU, ending the issuance of multi-entry Schengen permits in most cases. Under the new rules, Russian nationals “will have to apply for a new visa each time they plan to travel to the EU, allowing for close and frequent scrutiny of applicants to mitigate any potential security risk”, said the European Commission.
