Coco Austin has no regrets about keeping her daughter Chanel close… and by close, we mean breastfeeding until she was six!
The model and wife of rapper/actor Ice-T is once again defending her longstanding decision to nurse her little girl for years beyond the norm, and she’s not backing down one bit. Coco, now 46, spilled the tea during a recent chat on the Dumb Blonde Podcast, which debuted on Sunday. During that interview, she revisited all the online drama that erupted over her breastfeeding journey — which lasted MANY years longer than is typical for most nursing mothers.

But to that end, the blonde bombshell made it crystal clear that for her, the experience was never about what people thought she should do. Instead, it was about what felt right for her family! She said:
“I was feeding her because she needed a meal … she was able to eat at a year [old], full solids.”
Coco explained that as Chanel grew older, breastfeeding became something more than just nutrition:
“It was more of a bonding experience. So I was like, ‘I’m going to let her stop when she wants to stop. She’s not going to be 16 on my boob.’”
Well, we sure hope not!
And true to her word, Coco said it was Chanel who eventually decided she was done at age six. But while we may think that’s a looooong while, Ice-T’s spouse was quick to point out that not every society feels the same way:
“Which was still [an] extremely long amount of time, apparently. But in Europe, they’re doing it until seven. It’s nothing to them.”
Well, okay then!
Obviously, if you’ve been following Coco over the years, you know this topic is nothing new. Back in 2021, she said Chanel “still likes my boobs” and called the process “a big bonding moment for a mother and your child.” And she’s been saying similar things for years. In 2020, Coco shared a photo on Instagram of herself breastfeeding Chanel at age four. That post sent the internet into a meltdown, but Coco never wavered.
And Ice-T, ever the ride-or-die husband, defended Coco’s choice a few years back by saying breastfeeding at that stage wasn’t about nourishment, but about comfort and connection.
FWIW, the World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding for the first six months of a child’s life, with certain exceptions to continue up to two years. But Coco made it clear she just did what works for her, and she’s clearly unbothered by the noise!
Honestly, whether you agree or not, you can’t deny Coco’s commitment to her motherhood philosophy. She’s faced years of outrage, memes, and headlines but has kept her head high and her message consistent: her choice, her daughter’s decision, and their bond.
