Three adults and one unborn child are dead after a shocking multiple murder-suicide… Seemingly all over infidelity.
Over the weekend, the Dalton Police Department began investigating multiple shooting deaths in Dalton, Georgia that occurred at two separate locations. The PD revealed in an early press release that they reported to 35-year-old Rebeca Nicole Akins‘ residence on May 23 to conduct a welfare check at her coworkers’ request after she failed to show up for work for three days. Their findings were shocking:
“After being unable to get anyone to come to the door, officers were let into the residence by apartment staff and discovered the woman’s body with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.”
So awful…
Police quickly identified her husband, Kevin Andrew Akins, as a suspect through security footage and tracked him to an apartment complex across town, where they later saw another man approaching one of the units.
Soon after, that man came back out while calling 911 to report that he’d gone to check on his daughter Cindel Mae Rhoden, 33 (left inset) — and horrifically found her “and another man shot to death.” They revealed:
“The suspect had apparently shot and killed the woman before killing himself.”
So incredibly horrible. But WHY did any of this happen??

Well, according to her GoFundMe, Rhoden was a mom of two daughters and was pregnant with her third child… And that child was apparently Kevin’s! Friend Ashley Barker revealed on the fundraising site:
“Cindel was in a relationship with a man who was married to his estranged wife and she fell victim of manipulation and in a devastating turn of events, he took the life of his wife, then drove to Cindel’s home to kill her, and ultimately took the cowards way out and took his own life.”
Holy s**t!!! That is SO incredibly cruel! Instead of owning up to his infidelity, this dude killed everyone involved, leaving two little girls without their mom. So evil.
Rebecca Nicole’s younger sister Emily Landen paid tribute to her in a separate GoFundMe, confirming the events:
“My older sister Nicole was tragically taken away from us by the man she had loved for over half of her life. This has broken all of us beyond words. … Due to being with that man for 20 years, all of her financials were tied up in his. She was on his life insurance policy, and given the nature of their deaths we are unsure what that means for it being able to pay for her funeral.”
