US President Donald Trump’s sweeping new travel ban barring nationals from 12 countries came into effect Monday after midnight amid mounting public anger over the administration’s crackdown on immigrants. Citizens of Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen are now barred from the US.
