Justin Baldoni‘s lawyer is not backing down after Blake Lively‘s so-called legal win!
Days after Justin’s countersuit was dropped, his attorney Bryan Freedman appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show on Wednesday to detail the team’s next steps — and break down Taylor Swift‘s possible involvement in the drama!
As we all know, the pop star getting dragged into this legal mess has been one of the most noteworthy parts of this battle. Justin accused Blake of using the singer to get her way with the film, though the Lover artist has vehemently denied ever playing a role in the production.

Taylor was then subpoenaed by the It Ends With Us director, with Freedman revealing they needed to talk to her after he got intel from a close Swift source — reportedly Tay’s own father Scott Swift — that Blake had tried to extort her! The insider claimed Blake threatened to release private text messages if the Grammy winner didn’t publicly support her in this legal war. Insane, if true! The subpoena was quickly dropped, which seemed like amazing news for Taylor! She was finally going to be left out of this! But is that still true??
In the interview, Bryan was asked his thoughts in regard to what happened with Taylor. He couldn’t say much “out of respect for people that aren’t parties to the lawsuit,” but what he did let slip was super telling! He dished:
“I think that people who are relevant to the case and people who, you know, have otherwise been with people from the beginning of the case, side by side, shoulder by shoulder, are you know, potentially witnesses in the case. And so those are things that we need to look into. Those are things to see what in addition to what we know already we need. We need to move forward to obtain that discovery. There’s a short leash to how far we can go with discovery. I think the judge has made it very clear that, you know, third parties need to be directly relevant to claims and we think certain third parties are directly relevant. But it’s just whether or not you need that evidence in addition to what you have already.”
So cryptic — and yet we think we might get what he’s putting down. Someone who had been “side by side, shoulder by shoulder” with Blake — at the start of this lawsuit and through filming, at least — was Taylor. And we mean literally. The ex-BFFs used to be very publicly side by side all the time!

So, it seems like Taylor might not be out of the woods just yet! It seems like the legal team is still figuring out a way to get her involved in this!
When pressed if he can share whether or not he believes the accusation that the Gossip Girl alum threatened to retaliate against the performer, the lawyer again played it cool:
“The truth is I don’t think I should speak on it. I think we should wait and see how the evidence fares out on that.”
That said, he pointed out “there’s more evidence,” especially considering this was “a film shoot.”
“People who are relevant to the case… are potentially witnesses in the case…”

While several of Justin’s counterclaims were dismissed, he has the chance to refile certain parts of his lawsuit — as he intends to do. Bryan detailed the “significant” claims left:
“There’s an intentional interference with contract, which is against Blake and Ryan [Reynolds], that the judge gave us a roadmap to replead. There’s intentional interference with prospective economic advantage, and that goes beyond just a contract, it goes to the heart of are you going to be able to work again? There’s negligent interference with prospective economic advantage against Blake and Ryan. And there’s something called breach of the implied covenant of good faith and dealing against Blake only. And those claims are being replead.”
But what is MOST important is getting Blake’s deposition — which should be happening this summer:
“But nothing is as significant as taking her deposition, going through that process, getting the witness testimony and the witnesses deposed, and going into the courtroom and showing the truth to show that there was no sexual harassment. Nothing is more important than that.”
He revealed Blake was given notice for her deposition this month and they have until August 15 to complete “discovery of that type.” It’s unclear if they’ll get Ryan’s deposition, but he said he’s “a defendant in the case so obviously we’re going to notice his deposition.” But he stressed the judge doesn’t want to go overboard with the discovery, so they’re going to be picking and choosing their battles very intentionally.
The legal eagle went on to share how Justin is feeling following the news:
“I think that injustice is a word I think I can best describe it. A lack of understanding. ‘If she said these things about me that were untrue, how come I don’t have a legal redress in terms of defamation?’”
Bryan also argued “the evidence is clear” that Blake acted in a shady way by setting up a secret Doe lawsuit to get access to pivotal information she then used in her “hit piece,” which was “devastating to Justin.” He explained:
“If anybody remembers what December 21st was like for him, there was 100% of the people saying he’s a horrible person and 0% — well, except for me who actually saw him on a day-to-day basis and his family — who were really on his side. Until we put out the facts, until we put up the receipts, until we put out the documents. Because this has always been about facts and truth. You know, it’s frustrating for him. Who knows exactly what he did and didn’t do? Did he acquiesce too much to her demands? Absolutely — because he was afraid. But that’s very different than whether he sexually harassed her.”
As for the impact this has all had on Justin’s life, his confidant continued:
“He’s lost jobs, it has affected his career at the moment. It’s obviously affected him emotionally, his self-esteem. He’s putting up the best face he can for his family and whatnot. But all he wants is truly a chance and a courtroom and a jury to be able to tell his story to. You know, he’s not going around on red carpets, he’s not going around you know with interviews. He’s not going around on some victory tour even when she dropped her emotional distress claims.”
Putting Blake — who he suggested may have a “narcissism quality” to her personality — on blast for her public outings, Bryan quipped:
“They have an interesting ability to go on victory tours whether they win or lose so it doesn’t even matter. I could see her losing in the case and going on a victory tour. But that’s what we’re dealing with. When people show you who they are, believe them.”
Damn!
