G7 leaders united in backing Israel, but no joint Ukraine statement

France 24 correspondent Wassim Cornet reports from Banff, Canada, where G7 leaders concluded their summit with a united message backing Israel’s “right to defend itself” after it attacked Iran last week, triggering a heavy exchange of attacks which has killed hundreds, but failed to issue a joint statement in support of Ukraine after the US insisted the language be watered down.
