The rampart of Amboise Castle is at risk of collapse. For four months, workers have been reinforcing the fortifications due to cracks and loose stones caused by climate change. Last autumn’s heavy rains soaked the terraces near the wall, leading to an urgent landslide warning in late January, when 2,000 tonnes of earth were removed. Other castles in the region are at risk due to extreme weather events.
