New to Prime Day? We have a primer on everything you need to know. Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
As a marathon runner, I take my recovery seriously. It’s no hyperbole to say that massage guns have changed my life—and TheraBody is a brand name I swear by. Right now, the TheraBody TheraGun Prime Plus, normally priced at $429.99, is available for $380 on Amazon during Prime Day—but it’s just $334 at Walmart.
Weirdly, Walmart suggests the retail price is the same as Amazon’s sale price. Whether or not that’s a mixup, I can’t say—but you’ll be the one to benefit, to the tune of nearly $50 (Walmart will even ship it to you for free).
Why the TheraGun Prime Plus stands out
Even for smaller competitors, heat therapy is all the rage in the massage gun market. The TheraGun Prime Plus combines the trusted TheraGun technology with soothing heat therapy, creating a dual-action approach to muscle recovery that addresses both surface tension and deeper muscle knots.
The device features TheraBody’s signature triangular grip design, which allows for comfortable handling during extended use sessions. Its quiet operation—or at least quieter than earlier TheraGun models—makes it suitable for use in shared spaces without disturbing others. The battery life extends up to 120 minutes on a single charge, ensuring you won’t be interrupted mid-session.
But again, what really sets the Prime Plus apart is its heat function. I can’t live without it. The gentle warmth helps increase blood flow to targeted areas, potentially enhancing the effectiveness of the percussive therapy. This combination can be particularly beneficial for pre-workout warm-ups or post-exercise recovery sessions.
Smart features that matter
The TheraGun Prime Plus connects to the Therabody app, which offers guided routines tailored to specific activities, body parts, and recovery needs. Whether you’re dealing with post-run leg fatigue or shoulder tension from desk work, the app provides step-by-step protocols developed by wellness professionals.
The device comes with four different attachment heads, each designed for specific muscle groups and treatment types. For instance, the dampener attachment works well for tender areas, while the standard ball attachment handles larger muscle groups.
A great value (and some alternatives)
Compared to regular massage therapy sessions—which can cost $80-120 per hour—this sort of massage gun pays for itself quickly for regular users. If the TheraGun Prime Plus at $386.99 is still outside your budget, several other recovery devices are also discounted during Prime Day:
-
Toloco massage gun, down from $59.99 to $39.98 (33% off). Features 10 different massage heads.
-
Bob and Brad Q2 Pro Mini, down from $89.99 to $72.19 (20% off). Punches above its weight class, which you can read about in my review.
-
TheraGun Sense, down from $299.99 to $199.99 (33% off). Comes with built-in visually guided routines.
-
Hyperice Hypervolt 2 Pro, down from $349 to $299 (14% off). Offers three-speed settings and a powerful motor, though it lacks the heat function of the TheraGun Prime Plus.
Whether you choose the premium TheraGun Prime Plus or one of these alternatives, I cannot emphasize enough just how much percussion therapy is a game-changer for your muscles.
