Sure, the iPad Air is the perfect iPad for most people out there (and it’s heavily discounted for Amazon Prime Day). But what if you don’t have $500 to spend? Or you’re looking for a tablet for your kids, because you don’t want to hand them a pricey tablet they might drop or throw when a game of Roblox goes wrong? Then the entry-level 11-inch iPad is the best option for you. And for Prime Day, Apple has discounted the this model down to just $279, the lowest price it has ever been. That’s a $70 discount from the sticker price of $349.
The best iPad deal in Apple land
The regular iPad is now surprisingly powerful, and surprisingly cheap. First of all, it’s an iPad, so it supportd all the education and entertainment apps that you’d need for your young kids, or even teenagers. You’ll also find creative apps for drawing, editing videos, and more, and it’s compatible with the Apple Pencil.
iPadOS is intuitive enough that kids can figure it out quite easily. At the same time, Apple offers a strong set of parental controls and settings so you can limit their screen time, and set downtime and content restrictions easily.
Once you add a good case, the iPad will also become nigh-indestructible. Just make sure you choose a really robust one.
Good for grownups too
With iPadOS 26 incoming, the regular iPad isn’t a bad bet for adults either. The new OS will support multiple windows on the same screen. A sub-$300 tablet offering a Mac like interface for window management is quite something. The latest iPad is powered by the A16 Bionic chip so it should also last you for a long time. Plus, the latest model brings a critical storage update, now offering 128GB standard. (If you want more, Amazon also has the 256GB model on sale for $379, down from $449..
