Candace Cameron Bure is opening up about a rocky point in her marriage to Valeri Bure, and how her eldest son ended up saving them!
During a new episode of her eponymous podcast on Tuesday, the 49-year-old actress revealed she “went through a really, really rough season” in her relationship with Val in 2020. Things apparently were so bad that the pair didn’t think they could work things out and remain married. Yeah, sadly, they almost became another couple who didn’t make it out of the pandemic together! Candace recalled:
“It was going south quickly. And we were like, ‘I don’t know, don’t think … we’re gonna make it through.’”
Val and Candace’s three kids, Natasha, Lev, and Maksim, watched their parents’ marriage crumble and decided to sit them down to talk everything out during this time. However, it was Lev who managed to get through to the pair. The Full House alum shared:
“But at one point, [our son] Lev preached, like, a 45-minute sermon on marriage to us. Just had his Bible open on the couch and just talked about it. And I’ll never forget, ‘cause he said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married. I’m just a young kid. And so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young [who] never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says.’”

Candace said Lev “was such a calm voice that had so much wisdom behind it,” adding:
“He looked us straight in the eye and individually asked me and then ask Val, ‘Have you done everything you can? Is there one step of grace? Is there just some bit of more grace you could give Val? And Val, is there any more grace you can give mom? Is there one more act of kindness, one more gesture, one more ounce of kindness, goodness in you that you could give to try to reconcile?”
Wow! He was determined to save Candace and Val’s marriage! That’s a ton of pressure for a young adult!
The Fuller House star remembered she and Val “walked away” from the tough conversation, saying, “We raised some pretty good kids.” While Candace did not divulge any details about the cause of her relationship troubles with Val, she noted the heart-to-heart with her kids was a “pivotal moment” and “changed” them for the better. And clearly, what Lev said to them got through to the two because they are still seemingly happy together to this day! In fact, Candace and Val celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary last month!
