Miss Universe Fans Call Show ‘Rigged’ After Nepo Baby Wins Miss Cuba!

More Miss Universe controversy!

The beauty pageant has been accused of rigging the win again! This time, fans are outraged after a nepo baby born and raised in Miami was just crowned Miss Cuba 2025!

On Wednesday night, 22-year-old Lina Luaces took the crown and will represent the country at the 2025 Miss Universe pageant in Thailand in November. You may not know who she is, but you definitely know her family member — and that’s the problem for some!

Most notably, Lina is the grand-niece of the Gloria Estefan! Yes, that one! The Rhythm is Gonna Get You Gloria Estefan! OMG!

Besides being a HUGELY popular Cuban singer and actress, Gloria is estimated to have a net worth of around $500 million!! Wow!

BTW, she couldn’t be more excited for her grand-niece’s win:

That’s not all, though. Lina is also the daughter of Univision host Lili Estefan, and Lili’s uncle, Emilio Estefan, is a music producer and businessman, so the whole family is incredibly well connected. It’s because of her wealthy and famous family that tons of folks are now blasting the win, claiming it was “rigged” from the very start! They think Gloria and the others helped make sure she won!

Taking to the Miss Universe Cuba Instagram page (HERE), critics complained:

“I’m sorry and nothing against her but there were better contestants. Her last name and family connections is why she won. All of these contests are rigged”

“Honestly we know why she won the crown… like it’s so obvious.”

“This will be the last Miss Universe Cuba competition I watch. If you noticed, she was called first EVERY TIME. They should just skip the dog and pony show and name a sponsored winner without the pretend competition. It would save a ton of time and money!”

“Nepo baby”

“Mi$$ Nepoti$m!!”

“I’m sorry and nothing against her but there were better contestants. Her last name and family connections is why she won. All of these contests are rigged.”

“Money doesn’t just buy happiness, it also buys crowns and success”

“There’s no doubt, money buys everything”

Yeesh!!

That said, some were in support of the selection, defending her:

“Honestly we couldn’t have a better representation…. she is perfection. Always was. Like this was exactly what we want to represent ‘us’”

“I think Lina is representative of all Cubans. She was born out of the island because her family fled horrific political and economic circumstances on the island. Many, many Cubans live in exile for this same reason. We were born here in the USA due to circumstances beyond our control. We are still Cuban! Congratulations Lina! You represent me and my Cuban story!”

While there’s been no evidence that the win was actually rigged, this isn’t the first time a Miss Universe pageant has faced this criticism! Back in 2023, fans thought the same thing when Miss USA champ and Texas native R’Bonney Gabriel was crowned Miss Universe, but the organization denied the theory. At this time, Lina has not commented on the controversy.

Thoughts?!
