Myanmar’s junta ends long-running state of emergency ahead of December elections

More than four years after declaring a state of emergency following the annulation of the November 2020 election results, Myanmar’s junta on Thursday announced its end. The declaration was made ahead of December’s planned elections, which are boycotted by several opposition groups.
