Aimee Lou Wood isn’t a fan of Sydney Sweeney‘s non-response to her biggest controversy!
As we previously reported, the Euphoria star responded to the backlash to her American Eagle ad in a recent GQ interview — but did not have much insight to share. The campaign ignited a social media firestorm with its play on words about Sydney having “good jeans” as in “good genes.” In our regrettably Nazi-filled environment in the US these days, many accused the ad of promoting eugenics. And, perhaps more disturbingly a bunch of racists agreed and applauded the clothing company. Yeesh.
So what did Syd have to say about it? Nothing, really… No, really. She basically said she had no comment about that reading of the ad.

On Instagram Wednesday, photographer Misan Harriman posted a clip from the interview and gave his thoughts in the caption, writing:
“Presuming that you are not a white supremacist, at least say how horrified you were by how this campaign was amplified and celebrated by unrepentant racists who believe in eugenics.”
He continued:
“At least recognise the harm your jeans campaign has caused black folk, the undertone of the campaign is that your genetics are superior to others, the play on words is clear as day and racists LOVED it! So, presuming you didn’t know when you shot it, you certainly do now, and it matters. This ain’t it.”

Commenters agreed, with some bashing the journalist, as well as Sydney:

One celeb who wasn’t afraid to make her feelings known? Aimee Lou Wood. In one simple emoji, Aimee said what a lot of folks have been thinking:
Without saying a word, she made her point! The SHADE! It’s particularly notable for Aimee to speak up because she’s a colleague. Both are rising stars who were on White Lotus, though not the same season. That also means they’re both in the HBO family as Sydney is still filming Euphoria Season 3. Gonna be awkward if they both attend any network parties in the future…
