AirPods Pro 2

I can’t say enough good things about Apple’s AirPods Pro 2. They’re comfortable; they sound great; they have excellent noise cancellation; they automatically turn down the volume when you’re having a conversation with someone; they pair with all my Apple devices; and, if you need them to, they double as medical-grade hearing aids. Oh, and they sound fantastic. What’s not to like?

Typically, the price. AirPods Pro 2 list for $249, which isn’t the priciest Bluetooth earbud on the market, but, still, that’s a chunk of change. Luckily, these buds are frequently on sale, and over the course of Prime Day, you’ve been able to buy AirPods for $149, $100 off the list price. Seeing as the original AirPods cost $169 back in 2016, this is an excellent price for the Pros.

AirPods 4

If you don’t like the feel of AirPods Pro’s silicone tips, you can try AirPods 4. These buds opt for the classic Apple earbud design, so they won’t create a perfect seal in your ear. But even still, these buds come with a number of “pro” features, like active noise cancellation, great quality audio, sweat resistance, and spatial audio. Right now, they only cost $119, down from $179, which is a great price for an excellent pair of Apple earbuds.

If you don’t care about active noise cancellation, you can save even more by picking up the standard pair of AirPods 4 for a cool $89. (These are typically $129.)

Sony WF-1000XM5

Let’s break out of the Apple ecosystem. Whether you’re looking for an AirPods alternative for your iPhone, or you simply don’t have an Apple device at all, there’s a whole world of earbuds out there to try. Among the best, are the Sony WF-1000XM5s.

Sony’s product names aren’t the catchiest, but the name doesn’t matter here. The WF-1000XM5s have excellent sound quality and noise cancellation, and you can customize the sound experience via Sony’s app. Reviews also praise the microphones on these buds, which is great news for anyone who chats with friends, family, or coworkers on their earbuds.

The WF-1000XM5s are typically pretty expensive at $299.99, but Amazon has them just over $100 off at $198.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2

Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2 are another expensive pair of earbuds. They retail for $229, but you get quite a bit for that price. There’s active noise cancellation, of course, but also Google AI, which enables features like lowering the audio quality when you’re having a conversation. (Can you tell I’m a big fan of this feature?) The buds also have long battery life, lasting eight hours in between charges. (The charging case can net a total of 30 hours.)

If you have a Pixel phone, or any Android device really, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are a good buy. On the last day of Prime Day, you can pick up a pair for $160.55, 30% off the MSRP.

Bose QuietComfort

Bose was a pioneer in consumer noise cancellation. The company continues put out excellent headphones and earbuds to this day—and the Bose QuietComforts are no exception. While the noise cancellation might not be the best Bose has to offer, it is good, and when paired with the high-quality audio and long battery life (8.5 hours!) these buds are worth the price—especially on Prime Day.

You can pick up a pair for $129, down from $179.

Skullcandy Method 360

If you like the idea of owning a pair of Bose earbuds, but don’t like the Bose price, consider the Skullcandy Method 360s. These earbuds were made in partnership with Bose, which effectively makes the Method 360s the “budget” version of the QuietComforts.

The Skullcandy Method 360 buds charge in a long, cylindrical case, which is unique among the smaller pill-shaped cases you find with most Bluetooth earbuds. CNET found the noise cancellation to be the best of any Skullcandy earbud, and the sound quality to be very good—though call quality was inconsistent on the streets of New York.

You can buy a pair of Method 360s for $75.99 on Prime Day, down from $129.99.

Beats Studio Buds+

If you want an AirPods Pro experience without the AirPods Pro price tag (even the Prime Day price tag), the Beats Studio Buds+ might be worth your consideration. PCMag calls these buds excellent, praising the bass and high frequencies, noise cancellation (for the price), and its integration with both iOS as well as Google Fast Pair. That makes the Beats Studio Buds+ a good pick whether you have an iPhone or an Android.

While the Beats Studio Buds+ typically retail for $169.95, you can pick up a pair for $89.95. That puts them at the same price point as the AirPods 4 without noise cancellation. Not a bad deal at all.

Nothing Ear (a)

But we can go cheaper. Nothing’s Ear (a) earbuds also come with noise cancellation, support around five hours of audio playback on a single charge (23 hours with the case), and are built with ChatGPT integration—if that bloats your boat. PCMag also finds these buds to be excellent in a 4/5 review, with the only true knock being the noise cancellation, when compared to other competitors.

But for the price, the noise cancellation might just be good enough. Right now, you can buy these buds for $69, down from $109.
