And Just Like That Says There Was NO Continuity Mistake Killing The Same Character Twice! HUH??

Wait, so this wasn’t a mistake?!

And Just Like That shocked fans when they seemingly killed off the same character twice! And no, we don’t mean the character died in the original show Sex and The City and then died again in the reboot — which would have been bad enough. The character died TWICE in the same series! Like WTF?!

The continuity error circulated on TikTok over the weekend when a fan noticed that in Season 1 of the show Nicole Ari Parker‘s character Lisa revealed her “dad” died a year prior while chatting with Kristin Davis‘ character Charlotte. She said at the time:

“I was the exact same way when I lost my dad last year. I could see my rings literally shaking on my hands while I was trying to be so strong.”

But then in Thursday’s episode, which is part of the third season, Lisa is on the phone with Charlotte — revealing her father JUST died. She said:

“My father died this afternoon. He had a stroke out of nowhere.”

Uhh… What?!

In the comments of the TikTok, another fan pointed out that in the second season, Lisa’s father appeared on the show! The continuity is all over the place! Naturally, disappointed fans criticized the show’s writers and other creatives for missing the major mistake — but was it even a mistake?!

On Monday, Entertainment Weekly got confirmation from the show that Lisa was mentioning two different dads in these scenes! Apparently, the dad referenced in the first season was actually her stepdad — not her biological dad, played by Billy Dee Williams, who showed up in season 2 and is the one who was just killed off. Huh…

How the heck were viewers supposed to know that?! Leaving out the “stepdad” part feels like a big blunder, especially considering this wasn’t a character from the OG hit. Fans didn’t know as much about Lisa as they may have about original characters at the start of this reboot. If someone has more than one father, you kinda have to say that, you know?

So, is this just a convenient excuse they’re using now to make the plot hole not look so bad? Or was this really what they intended all along? Hmm. Tell us what you think (below)!
