Apple Launches iPhone 17 at ‘Awe Dropping’ Event With These Upgrades

Apple, at its ‘Awe Dropping’ event, unveiled the all-new iPhone 17. During the keynote address at Apple Park, CEO Tim Cook announced the all-new base iPhone model for this year. It is the standard model in the Cupertino-based tech giant’s latest iPhone lineup, equipped with the successor to last year’s A18 chipset and running iOS 26 out of the box. The handset comes with improved cameras, faster performance, and other quality-of-life upgrades. Like its predecessor, the iPhone 17 is also equipped with support for Apple Intelligence — the company’s proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) suite.

iPhone 17 Features and Specifications

The iPhone 17 is a dual SIM (US: eSIM, Worldwide: Nano+eSIM) handset that runs on iOS 26. It sports a larger 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate, courtesy of the new ProMotion panel, which has been adopted from the iPhone 16 Pro models. The screen supports up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, upgraded Ceramic Shield 2 protection, and an always-on display feature. The handset has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

For optics, the iPhone 17 comes with a dual rear camera system, headlined by a 48-megapixel Fusion main camera with an f/1.6 aperture and sensor-shift optical image stabilisation (OIS). This sensor can also function as a 2X telephoto camera with a 52mm focal length. Accompanying it is a 48-megapixel Fusion Ultra-Wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and macro capabilities. On the front, you get a new Centre Stage selfie camera.

The iPhone 17 is powered by an A19 chipset and runs on iOS 26. It comprises a 16-core Neural Engine, which Apple claims delivers power-efficient AI inference, increased memory bandwidth, and improved performance. Apple has bumped up the storage as well, with 256GB as the base storage.

As per the company, the iPhone 17 can deliver up to eight hours more battery life compared to the iPhone 16. It gets faster charging too, with a 50 percent charge in minutes. Meanwhile, a 10 minute charge can provide up to eight hours of usage.
