Well, this is awkward timing…
Taylor Swift was referenced in the new episode of Ryan Reynolds‘ series Welcome to Wrexham — despite her feud with Blake Lively! In Thursday’s episode of the docuseries, Wrexham, also known as the Red Dragons, was playing their rivals Birmingham when things started to go south. That’s when one of the announcers gave T-Swift a big shout-out to inspire the team — and despite all the drama between the former friends, the comment still made it into the show. They said:
“Ruby slippers invoking the spirit of the patron saint of lost causes, Taylor Swift, and saying shake it off, Reds. You’ve got plenty of time.”
Hah! The game was filmed back in January — just shortly after Blake went public with her allegations against Justin Baldoni.

As we all know, the pop star was soon dragged into the mess, and it went so far as the director sending her a subpoena request that he later dropped. Blake was also accused of threatening to leak Taylor’s private texts — unless the latter publicly supported her! The whole ordeal drove a major wedge between the once close friends, so much so that they’re reportedly not speaking anymore (even though the Gossip Girl alum has refused to give up on the friendship).
So, this is certainly terrible timing for a Taylor reference in a Ryan project! Oof!!
Reactions?! Should they have edited this out? Let us know your thoughts (below)!
