JoJo Siwa’s new cover doesn’t have the approval of fans… or the original singer!
Earlier this week, the Dance Moms alum shared a short snippet of herself singing Kim Carnes’ 1981 track Bette Davis Eyes on social media. It came months after she performed the song live at a show in Mexico, notably swapping the lyrics to shout out her boyfriend, Chris Hughes. After receiving a positive response to her live performance, JoJo recorded an official studio version, though she told fans she was “undecided” if she should release the song.

People watched the teaser video and weighed in, and they did not love the cover at all! JoJo got obliterated in the comments section, with folks slamming her “painful” vocals and for dressing like a “trad wife.” Ouch! And amid the hate, fans noticed that Kim reacted to the cover and threw major shade at JoJo, too! Double Ouch!
The 79-year-old musician posted — and deleted — on Instagram her take on Wednesday, writing:
“There is a difference between singing a song … And embodying it. I’ve always believed authenticity is what makes music timeless … I’m forever grateful to be the voice behind this one … Bette Davis Eyes.”
Damn! It’s pretty bad when the OG shades the hell out of you! However, JoJo doesn’t seem to care what anyone thinks! Not even Kim! She actually dropped the cover on Friday! Listen (below):
