Brazil’s Supreme Court will on Tuesday begin hearing closing arguments in the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro, who faces charges of plotting a coup to remain in power after he lost the 2022 election. The case grabbed global attention after U.S. President Donald Trump denounced it as a “witch hunt” against his ally and retaliated by imposing a 50% tariff on many Brazilian goods.
