Cameroon is also facing a severe displacement crisis. According to the Norwegian Refugee Council, Cameroon has surpassed Burkina Faso as the world’s most overlooked humanitarian emergency. The council’s annual ranking highlights displacement crises that suffer from the least media attention, funding, and political response. Ethiopia ranks second—its highest position ever—while Mozambique appears for the first time in third place. Burkina Faso, which held the top spot for the past two years, has now dropped to fourth. Eye on Africa welcomed Hassane Hamadou, the NRC’s regional director for West and Central Africa.
