Several cars were torched at a prison in southern France overnight into Wednesday, the latest in a series of attacks on the country’s penitentiaries since Sunday. Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin has blamed drug traffickers for trying to “destabilise the state” as authorities escalate a crackdown on drug networks operating from inside French prisons.
