Cassie’s team is speaking out after a shocking verdict was reached in Diddy’s trial.
The disgraced rapper has officially been found guilty on prostitution charges in his New York trial, but was acquitted of his sex trafficking and racketeering charges. He faces up to 10 years in prison on each charge, which is a far cry from what prosecutors were vying for, but here we are. And Cassie’s team is offering up their thoughts on the verdict.
According to NBC News, outside the courthouse, the M & U singer’s lawyer Douglas H. Wigdor reacted to the trial news:
“Of course, we would have liked to have seen a conviction on the sex crimes and RICO, but we understand that ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ is a high standard. We’re just pleased he still faces substantial jail time.”
In a statement obtained by multiple outlets, he also shared:
“This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023. Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution. By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice.”

So very true. Unfortunately for her, this isn’t the verdict she was likely hoping to see. But it’s better than nothing. If she wouldn’t have spoken out in 2023, Diddy might not have seen ANY justice. Wigdor continued:
“We must repeat — with no reservation — that we believe and support our client who showed exemplary courage throughout this trial. She displayed unquestionable strength and brought attention to the realities of powerful men in our orbit and the misconduct that has persisted for decades without repercussion. This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors.”
So well said.
While this trial may be over, Diddy has been accused of heinous crimes by countless others. So the battle may be done, but the war is far from over.
