Chef Anne Burrell’s Death Is Being Investigated As Possible Drug Overdose

New information has surfaced regarding Anne Burrell’s death.

As the world continues to come to grips with the Food Network star’s tragic death at just 55 years old, we’re hearing new details about the investigation. To bring you up to speed, Anne was found unresponsive in her shower by husband Stuart Claxton on Tuesday morning. He called the police who instructed him to perform CPR, but she was apparently already cold. It’s unclear how long she had been there and whether or not Claxton did administer CPR, but EMS were unable to revive her upon their arrival.

On Thursday, a new layer to the tragedy developed when the New York Post reported dozens of pills were discovered in the bathroom with Anne. And now, her death is officially being investigated as a possible overdose.

On Friday, the New York Times reported the Worst Cooks in America star was “discovered in the shower unconscious and unresponsive surrounded by approximately (100) assorted pills.”

Whoa…

The outlet further reported that a spokesperson for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner revealed an autopsy had been completed for Anne, but that an official cause of death is still pending.

So, so sad.

Just one night before Anne’s death, she was reportedly “in great spirits” while performing an improv set at the The Second City New York in Brooklyn. Things truly happen so fast…
